You Aren’t Bothering Them | #14
Jan 28, 2023Email is the number one place to get new clients. Cold emails have given me 95% of my clients, and without this one thing, I wouldn’t have gotten any from it.
We’re talking about follow-up. Almost no one responds to my initial emails, but luckily I have follow-ups in place that help convert cold leads into paying clients. By following up it shows them I’m serious, it lets me share more about how I can help them, and it gives them another chance to respond.
A lot of the time, people don’t respond to your emails simply because they are busy or even because they forget to hit send left the email in their drafts folder. You need to get over the thought that you’re bothering them. If they don’t want to hear from you, they’ll let you know.
This applies to when you’ve already talked to a potential client as well. A lot of the time I’ll send out a proposal for a project, and I won’t hear from the client for weeks or months. But you better believe me that I’m following up. Sometimes they still won’t respond after a few emails. Then there are times when they’ll actually thank me for being so persistent. They’ll tell me they were caught up putting out fires and didn’t have time or were trying to allocate funds.
Remember, you’re not bothering them until they tell you that you are.
I know some of you think this mindset will make you no better than a pushy door-to-door salesman. That just means you don’t believe in your service. If you truly believe your services will help their business, then you’re actually trying to help their business. You’re not here to make a quick buck, you’re here for a mutually beneficial partnership.
