Rebuilding A Personal Brand

It’s time for a change.

Thousands of creatives have landed clients, ditched their 9-5s, and started living better lives because of the content I share.

I’ve been a full-time photographer/educator since 2020 and built an audience of 100k+ across platforms.

But recently, some of the content has gotten away from me. My personal brand feels all over the place.

It’s time to get more specific.

I’ll be talking about myself a lot in this newsletter. The hope is by walking you through my though process, you’ll pick up some things you can apply to your own personal brand.

 

🔨 Why I’m Doing This

I want to build brand and build a community around that brand. When someone sees my name pop up, I want there to be an immediate association. It should be clear what Chris Pieta stands for.

Who do I help? How do I help them? What’s my story? What hardships did I overcome? Where am I vulnerable?

I know what I stand for. Kayla and those closest to me know who I am. But how can I authentically share that with the world? That’s what we’re going to be building here.

My mission is to provide accessible creative business education. That’s easy for me.

What’s hard is building a community around this. Building a movement.

This requires focus on what matters. But more importantly, it requires saying no to everything that doesn’t fall in line with the vision and the brand. I need to shed the 80% that doesn’t matter, and go all in on the 20% that does.

This is going to be a long process, but in the end, we’ll have a stronger community. More and more creatives will be able to live their dreams because of the content, the programs, and the coaching I do.

I used to be painfully average. I took action and my life is completely different. I want the same for anyone else who feels that way.

 

⚙️ The Tactical Stuff

Okay, so what does this actually look like? First, I’m gathering feedback from my audience. Across socials. And from readers like you.

I’ve gone through and spent time creating what I perceive myself as. I know my North Star. I know my passions. I know my quirks and my kryptonite.

I’ll start building content around these. Content will vary a bit, but generally, it will fall into one of these categories:

  • Educate
  • Inspire
  • Authenticity/tell my story
  • Social Proof
  • Controversy
  • Entertain/funny

Each will fall into one of these 3 buckets:

  1. Attract: Casting a wider net to bring more people into my world (~40% of content)
  2. Nurture: More nuanced topics to build community and brand (~40% of content)
  3. Convert: Tactical and social proof to bring people into the Creative Biz Launch system and my coaching. (~20% of content)

That’s the plan at least. We’ll see how it changes over time.
